How to get data from the grid

* login to lxplus, atlas-ui01, atlas-ui03
* best use bash, ksh, zsh
* initialize grid

  • source /afs/
  • voms-proxy-init -voms atlas

* initialize dq2 for CERN

  • source /afs/

* initialize dq2 for UniGe

  • source /afs/

* list files with wildcards

  • dq2_ls *.recon.AOD*v110041*
  • dq2_ls -fg csc11.005001.pythia_minbias.recon.AOD.v11004103

* get single file

  • dq2_get -vra csc11.005001.pythia_minbias.recon.AOD.v11004103 csc11.005001.pythia_minbias.recon.AOD.v11004103._00008.pool.root.1

* get dataset

  • nohup dq2_get -vra [...] &

How to set up my Framework

* initial check out of the Framework to local directory (c-shell):

  • setenv CVSROOT
  • from an external site setenv CVSROOT
  • cvs co -d Framework users/astraess/Framework

How to setup the Framework for Athena 14.2.0 (borne-shell):
* open requirements file and change ATLAS_TEST_AREA path name to your personal testarea (e.g. $HOME/scratch0/testarea)

  • cd /Framework/cmthome
  • source
  • cmt config
  • source -tag=14.2.0

* in each checked out package do cmt config
How to check out packages with CMT and new path origin:
cmt co -o users/astraess package_name

* the latest cvs tags are

  • Framework-1207-03
  • HiggsBase-1207-03
  • HiggsAnalysis-1207-03
  • HiggsFit-1207-03
  • CombiFit-1207-03
  • HiggsGenerators-1207-03

* there are no tags yet for v14

* HiggsAnalysis depends on HiggsFit because of the root tree structures for event lists
* to get a specifically tagged package use

  • cmt co -r [version] -o users/astraess [package]

How to get tags of exisiting packages

  • get_tag package_name

How to use my Framework

* edit the file in Framework/jobs and change all input and output pathnames to your preferred values
* with the "run" script you can run the analysis
* with the "trans" script you can generate, simulate, and reconstruct your own Monte Carlo
