Caltech Tier 2

Prerequisites

To have a valid Grid certificate and be registered on CMS VO: follow the instructions in CRAB Prerequisites - Grid certificate.

Make sure your certificate is correctly mapped to your primary CERN account in SiteDB. The twiki page SiteDB for CRAB may be helpful. For checking CERN username extraction from SiteDB, CRAB provides the command crab checkusername. To be able to execute the command, one has to first setup the environment and have a valid proxy (see sections Setup the environment and Get a CMS VO proxy).

Create an account at Caltech T2

  1. Email the T2 admins at networking@hep.caltech.edu to create a Teamwork account on https://caltech.teamwork.com
  2. On Teamwork page, add a task: Create user space for <your lxplus username> in HDFS /store/user/. In the text content:
    1. Provide your DN, obtained by voms-proxy-info --identity . For example: /DC=ch/DC=cern/OU=Organic Units/OU=Users/CN=qnguyen/CN=775959/CN=Thong Nguyen
    2. Specify whether you also need access to the interactive node.
  3. After the account has been created by Justas/Shash, verify that you have write access to user space by the command crab checkwrite. For example:
    $ voms-proxy-init -voms cms
    $ cmsenv
    $ crab checkwrite --site T2_US_Caltech
