SLS Project

  • Get all the data from lemon and dq2 reports and generate an xml file for each machine. In results/ seems that the only updated files are atlddmXX, not ss_XXX_XXX (ss__XXXX_XXX previous method using vobox?). Uses:
  • machines.txt Map cloud/server
  • Save all the reports from result/dq2_report/ with their date of modification.
  • : file included in all nodes, send an e-mail to the admin if the files has changed.
  • dq2_cfg/ directory with all the properties for access the servers. ss_node.cfg map of the servers/cluoud.

Daemons running:

  • ddmusr03@atlddm16:/data/SLS/scripts/vobox_monitor/
    • ctrontab:
      • : Generate the xml files (see
      • : Make a backup of the reports.
  • ddmusr01@atlddm16:/data/SLS/scripts/vobox_monitor/
    • acrontab:
      • For each machine, check with svn if the CONFIGURATION files has been change.
      • Get the reports from the machines.

Would be wonderful update howtorun.txt in vobox_monitor/

SVN is used for update the .cfg of each machine? Seems that sends an e-mail to the administrator.

  • Adding a milestone to the Twiki page Milestone12Jun
  • Working provisional script for atlddm11:
    • Wasting time validating XML -> use xmllint under libxml package to validate against a schema.
    • 0.1 alpha beta gamma.... Writes an xml with dq2 report files. Without supporting log, error, lemon metrics,...
    • Added lemon metrics function: Return a list of dictionary with each value for the data segment
    • Added a draft of logger system for monitoring

15 Jun

  • Debugging monitoring script:
    • just one logging (dashboard have logging integrated?).
    • Future: More test cases, documentation, copying reports from server.

  • Creating an example of a dashboard service

ip address /
sshd enabled
VM Cconfiguration
Name slc5
OS/Version Linux/ Linux 2.6

  • users : root / slccern | ddmusr03 / usualpasswd
  • AFS is not configured!
  • The IP for the machine is You need to follow to access via networkt to the machine. Remember use iptables command for enabling the internet access to the VM. SSH is enabled.
  • Importing the image:
    • Create a new vm: Name: slc5, OS: Linux, Version: Linux 2.6.
    • RAM: 2048MB
    • Virtual Hard Disk: Click on Existing... and select the vdi file.
    • Click Finish
    • Modify the Settings and add the tap0 interface (or the name that you choose) as the network adapter.
  • Remember use Snapshot utility at every important change in the system, so you won't have to import the vm again if the things go wrong.
