ECAL Locator service

We need a mapping from the physical board location

(crate, slot)

to the logical DAQ program responsible for it

(host, port, application, instance).

As I see it, each application publishes in its own infospace which board it is controlling. Then a central (but optional) application is responsible for:

  • knowing the board_id to (crate, slot) mapping (perhaps this is part of a database),
  • scanning all running applications for board_ids, and
  • building the (crate, slot) to application mapping.

This application could then be queried for which application to contact regarding a certain piece of hardware or it could actually route messages addressed to (crate, slot) to the target application, thus providing abstraction from the board_id details.

TCC Supervisor

As discussed with Pascal, the TCC Supervisor will provide a SOAP interface to program test patterns.

This FillTCCMemory message has as parameters:

  • SLB number: 0 to 8 or -1 for all
  • channel number: 0 to 7 or -1 for all
  • lists of values (up to 2048 unsigned shorts that will be masked by 0x01ff)
