Layout of the scintillator setup

We use three scintillators, namely two 'hampton' scintillators labled by 'HSC-1' and 'HSC-2' on the top and a smaller 50x60 cm scintillator, labeled by 'X' mounted vertically at the barrel side of the endcap. See this figure (eps) for the positions.

scintillator x (wrt axis) [cm] y (wrt floor) z (wrt barrelside endplate)
HSC-1 [19,59] [305,307] [164,304]
HSC-2 [60,100] [305,307] [164,304]
X [-8,42] [150,210] [-15,-16]

The detector axis is at about 169cm above the floor. Some of these numbers have uncertaities of about 5cm.

The hampton scintillators, labeled by two PMTs each, labeled by 'A' and 'B'. The PMTs are connected to the HV unit with two HV cables (because a single one would not be long enough). This table shows how the cables are labeled:

PMT name HV cable at HV unit HV cable at PMT readout cable
HSC-1A 14 15 11
HSC-1B 13 7 9
HSC-2A 7 1 13
HSC-2B 4 8 10
X 11 14 14

NOTE: SIGNAL CABLE 12 IS BROKEN. (Several HV cables are also broken, but we have many of those so less critical.)

HV and threshold settings

This has not been particularly optimised, though I made some efficiency scans to test scintillator X

| PMT | HV | threshold

HSC-1A 1700 0.45
HSC-1B 1800 0.45
HSC-2A 1700 0.45
HSC-2B 1700 0.45
X 2500 0.40
