• What is a crab cavity ?
A crab cavity is a resonant cavity where the magnetic field of the TM110 mode at the zero crossing is typically used to impart a z-dependent kick to a traversing bunch. Therefore the head and the tail rotate w.r.t to the center of the bunch which can be subsequently used to compensate the crossing angle at colliders like the LHC.

  • What is the typical R12 parameter for the LHC ?
    For the nominal LHC, the R12 ~ 30 m.
