The LHCb UK Student Software Tutorial will take place in November, presumably on the 19th and 20th of November 2014.

Day I (morning or afternoon)

Introduction
  • Student meetings: Who, what, where, when and how to contribute, e.g. suggest topics
  • Where to get help: Mailing lists, twiki, release area
  • Bender basics, e.g. dst_dump.py
  • Where to find correct database tags
  • How the BK works
  • Liaisons
  • Eos
  • TCKs
  • ParticleTable
  • Loop over large ntuples rather with C++ instead of python
  • getpack, cmt
  • svn basics
DaVinci
Ganga
  • Submission
  • Ban sites
  • Resubmit jobs, force status to failed, reset backends, job comment, ...
  • $HOME/.ganga.py
  • Turn off monitoring loop

Day II (morning or afternoon)

Gauss
Boole, Moore, Brunel
  • Simulation job and process it through Boole, Moore and Brunel
  • TIS, TOS
PIDCalib
  • What is it, why we need it and how to use it
