CMSSW36Xv43 tag: Main changes (17/09/10)

  • Trigger/Flags:
    • trig_isHLTpath was replaced by two flags "trig_isEleHLTpath" and "trig_isMuonHLTPath" to allow doing a separate OR of triggers.
    • the .py files to create the trees (in the test folder) were updated with the OR of useful electron and muon triggers. The corresponding HLTfilter names (needed in order to retrieve the HLT objects when one want to do a offline/HLT matching) were added also.

CMSSW36Xv41 tag: Main changes (16/09/10)

  • Flags:
    • Addition of "skim_is1lepton", "skim_is2leptons", "skim_is3leptons" flags to know the event provenance according to the skim streams. Note that this was done in a quick&dirty way for now. It's sufficient for now but there are already plans to do it in a nicer way.
  • E/p stuff (from Stéphanie/Ivica):
    • Addition of SC raw E, Energy Error, (for SC associated to electrons) etc... variables for the E/p combination studies.
  • L1 Trigger:
    • Addition of all the variables needed (both in FillElectrons and FillSuperClusters functions) by the L1 team to compute their efficiencies and make nice turnons.

CMSSW36Xv3 tag: Main changes (6/09/10)

  • Superclusters:
    • Addition of SigmaIetaIeta and Isolation (ECAL and HCAL) variables for Tag & probe studies. Note that the SpikeRemoval is not done yete when computing the ECAL Iso. Method is available, but not in 363...
  • Jets:
    • Addition of Jet+Tracks jets,
    • Addition of Particle Flow jets.=> for V+jets (and fake rates)
  • Muons:
    • Additions of the muons (for Multi-leptons analysis). All variables related to muon quality (as used by VBTF) are there.
  • MC Truth Infos:
    • The function "FillTruth" adds some new informations:
    • "MC_flavor" variable: useful for MC samples not generated by lepton flavor (e.g., the W/Z+jets with Madgraph). Returns 0 when the event is W->enu/Z->ee, 1 when it's W->munu/Z->mumu, 2 when it's W->taunu/Z->tautau
    • TLorentzVectors for generated W or Z.
    • TLorentzVectors for decays of W and Z. (all of this can be easily extended to Higgs. A code already exists in HZZ package as well)
  • Vertices:
    • Addition of Primary vertices (number, x,y,z).
  • Trigger:
    • L1 EM & HLT candidates added.Note that to have the HLT candidate, you need to specify the "HLT Filter" name (one for each trigger path). Examples exists in the .py config files.
    • "trig_isHLTpath" variable: returns 1 when at least the event fired at least one of the trigger paths specified in the .py config file (HLTPaths = cms.vstring('path1','path2',...).To deal with all these new trigger informations, several parameters need to be added to the .py config files. What is currently commited was just for tests. We need to discuss about which trigger we want to use (and find the corresponding HLT filter name...).
  • Miscellaneous: !! YOU WILL HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR MACROS !! Since we are now dealing with a lot of objects, we had to modify the name of the variables in order to have a more clearer tree. As a consequence, all the electrons (resp. triggers) variable names starts now by "ele_" (resp. "trig_"). The number of electrons is now called "ele_N" and not "nEle" anymore. So, yes, you will have to change your macros...
  • More things to come
    • Some infos requested by Clémentine to do the proper matching L1 candidate/offline electrons.
    • Some infos requested by Ivica for the E/p combination studies.
    • Some additional infos for the jets (Jet ID + L2L3 JEC). Note that to have the latest JEC, it may need the checking-out of one additional package...
    • Some additional infos for MET (corrected MET...).
    • Moreover, a major change will come soon (and everybody will have to change the macros, again...). We will replace the fixed size arrays to store the variables by vectors. Roberto already put everything in place and made a lot of successful tests. Note that this will require the checking-out of one additional package...
