  • connect to a specific host in Point1, for example pc-atlas-cr-02

LAr Calibration Run Shifts

next shift take note of the time it takes to configure - tell helenka@mailNOSPAMPLEASE.cern.ch (x1123, or 10 0450 091627)

Starting as LAr shifter, summary of day:

For calibration runs do:

  • log into pc-lar-pub-04.cern.ch with username lardaq (passwd in my logbook)
  • source sod-106-20-03-sh
  • cd workarea-20-03/LAR_PARTITION/v3r5/cmt
  • source setup.sh (do twice...)
  • daq launches the ATLAS TDAQ Software Gui

In the TDAQ Software Gui do:

  • go to "LAr Shifter Panel"
  • select "Run Type: Pedestal", "Gain: High", "Samples: 0" and click "Start"
  • go to "Run Control Panel" to view the progress of the run
  • repeat for "Med" and "Low" gains
  • repeat "High", "Med", and "Low", gains for "Ramp" and "Delay" run types (for "Delay" use "Samples: 32"

Now copy all the data:

  • data is written to pc-lar-ros-eb-02:/data/check/ (extension .writing while writing .data when complete)
  • mv the data files to pc-lar-ros-eb-02:/data/copy/

Write to the e-log:

  • instructions are up to date in the DAQ manual (except that you get the run information from pc-lar-ros-eb-02 instead of 01)

Checking calibration data

After the calibration runs have been reconstructed and ntuplized (done automatically), check the results:

  • go to largh8 account on lxplus ssh -Y -2 largh8@lxplusNOSPAMPLEASE.cern.ch (password in my notebook)
  • do the following:
    • cd scratch0/BarrelP3C
    • ss0
    • ss1
    • cd rootMacros
    • root
  • In Root, do the following:
    • select open root file
    • go up one directory, and select rootFiles
    • choose either Delay, Ramp, or Pedestal directory
    • choose the run you want to look at

For Delay runs:

  • select LAr Wave Monitoring
  • select LAr Shapes -> FT_allShapes
  • check that there are histograms for all 13 channels
  • comment on any channels that have low signal in the [[elog][http://pcatlas227.cern.ch:8080/Barrel+Phase+III/]

For Pedestal runs:

  • ...

For Ramp runs:

  • ...
