In this page I will put the information related to netbooting the VMIC.

Up to now the VMIC on the A-side have been netbooted. To start with none of the VME or USB functionalities were working. But after debugging the problems (mostly setup problem),

  • USB fnctionalities were back online. But there is one problem: no hotplug package installed, so there is a problem whenever a USB cable is unplugged the USB port permission is set back to root.
  • VME is working to some extend: VME driver can be initialized and MUX work, but when running the ADC in standalone mode it crashes the whole system. I traced the problem to the “VME Interrupt”…

On 10/10/2006, I tried to use the LAR_PARTITION_EMBA with the netbooted VMIC, it crashed also. But when using a newer version of TriggerADC (where I dropped the VME interrupt see AdcDataReadout), the data taking went smoothly.
