This page describes the project to build a replacement DCC for HCAL. Justification for this project is available here (first review, pw=hcal), here (proposal and cost estimate) and here (recent review).

The active documentation has moved to the [BU TWiki page since access to this CERN TWiki from outside CERN is not reliable enough for regular use.

The New DCC will be a single VME module with one daughterboard for the TTCrx. A VME P3 connector will carry the DAQ output data to a rear transition module. The best written description is my slides from the August 2008 review.

New DCC Software

Active development work described on BU Wiki here: NewDccSoftware.

Old DCC Software

The CVS Browser and API documentation (doxygen) are the best way to browse the code. Here are brief descriptions of the relevant source files.

Class Description Changes Needed?
hcal::Application base class for all the '''manager''' classes None .hh API DCC-specific manager Minor Monitoring support Minor Hyperdaq page renderer Rewrite (not immediately) .hh API Top-level hardware interface class Rewrite Support for multiple DCCs in a crate (not used?) Not relevant? PCI address space support Not relevant? VME PCI motherboard support Not relevant? PCI device support Not relevant? Flash memory programmer Rewrite Unpacker for testing Not used

Install Doxygen and Graphviz, run on the current HEAD to hopefully get a call tree. Output going here: With call graphs or without graphs. See DccSoftwareDeconstruction for more details.
