The next SUSYBSM meeting will take place on July 28 Thursday, at 40-s2-a01, vrvs moon, modification passwd: july28-susybsm Preliminary agenda http://agenda.cern.ch/fullAgenda.php?ida=a053882

Speakers, please let us know if you will be here at CERN, or are presenting via VRVS- As per the discussion we had at the last SUSYBSM meeting regarding the progress for the PTDR (Luc's talk http://agenda.cern.ch/askArchive.php?base=agenda&categ=a053265&id=a053265s1t18/moreinfo and PTDR SUSYBSM part outline http://agenda.cern.ch/askArchive.php?base=agenda&categ=a053265&id=a053265s1t18/transparencies) by the July 28 meeting:

1. we need to fill the names of the chapter/section editors where there are question marks in the outline [we need this as soon as possible in order to assign the filenames etc for the technicalities of writing up]

2. we need a draft of your contribution with the figures (themselves where ready or placeholders where not), text, and results (tables, placeholders where appropriate) for your analysis. We need to cover the 1fb-1 where it makes sense, the 30 fb-1 and the 10 fb-1 before going asymptotic to the high-lumi benchmarks. The 1 fb-1 case we will edit for volume II.1 (Patrick's).

JULY 16 addendum: The draft of the contribution means the summary of the analysis and results. The summary should be a summary, i.e. not what you copy and paste for the analysis note (simulataneously or later). Instead a short (~3 pages) comprehensive, executive, compact, to-the-point summary of the results. For example describe your final signature and state within which model it appears but don't explain the standard model, supersymmetry, technicolor or string theory and general relativity, please. Similarly for the detector, algorithms etc. : state which detetctor elements and algorithms are important for your analysis but don't rewrite Volume I-- taking a look at PTDR volume I you will know what to reference. Some overlap will be unavoidable but we should try to keep it under control from the early stages. Think of it as a short letter or rapid communication. There is indeed somewhat of a causality issue here, because we ask you for the draft summary before the whole work is completed but given our schedules, this is what it is.

3. we need a first description of the systematics and a first pass of (at least some of) the systematics - (e.g. PDFs and Q scale uncertainties on your signal etc) We expect to have status and preliminary results shown on the July meeting. It is important, to send us the above for the pTDR and also to plan showing your semi-final results in the next SUSYBSM which we have planned for Sept 6, Tuesday. A few additional reminders:

  • Please try the semi-official significance estimator for CMS as presented by Albert De Roeck in our SUSYBSM Maydays meeting. We expect to have a final round of certification of this but in the meantime we encourage you to use it (CLs available as TLimit in Root).
  • for the editors, please go through the http://cmsdoc.cern.ch/cms/cpt/tdr users guide and try it out.
  • for your plots please use the official PTDR root script (linked also in the susybsm tools page). for the PDTR all plots should be cleanly readable when printed in black and white, but you should make nice color plots (for presentations and the PTDR web pages eventually).

with best regards,

Luc, Maria.
