Back to the SPI LIM meeting pages and to the LibrarianIssues

Minutes of the LIM meeting, May 19, 2005

Present: Emil Obreshkov (ATLAS), Eric Poinsignon (SPI), Florence Ranjard (LHCb), Shahzad Muzaffar (CMS), Andreas Pfeiffer (SPI)

Apologies: David Quarrie (ATLAS), Vasily Kabachenko (ATLAS)

Doxygen and LXR are now back again for releases of the LCG AA projects and a daily "snapshot" (HEAD of the cvs repository, run at 0100 every night). Also the recent versions of root (presently 4.03.04a) and CLHEP (presently are provided from the doxygen page of SPI ( Andreas to check if there are also doxy-tag files available for use in the experiments.

A new set of releases is being build based on LCG_35 (with the latest production version of root (4.04.02) and a change in the CLHEP toolFile, see below). As soon as the libs are build, the directories will be made available and annouced to the LIM mailing list for testing (while the post-build processing is still ongoing).

CMS asked for an upgrade of RuleChecker to version 2.5 (from 2.0 now in SPI). Also they would need to change some rules (.cxx -> .cc and others) and would therefore need to know about whom to contact for license and possible source code. Andreas to check with Alberto/John.

LHCb remarked that after an initial round of verifying compliance with RuleChecker developers got used to the rules and violations dropped in numbers very rapidly. Therefore LHCb is no longer using RuleChecker.

Eric asked if the older root versions can be removed from external to free up space on the AFS volume (which is close to it's limits). He will send a mail with the detailed list to the mailing list.

The expts should provide a list of actually used releases of LCG AA projects (and external packages) which will be published in the wiki and updated regularly (about every 6 months).

Next meeting: June 2, 11:00.

Action items:

new and outstanding:

  • check for doxy-tag files for CLHEP

  • check RuleChecker license/source for CMS

  • experiments to provide list of projects in actual use

  • provide "flexible" download/install for GENSER 1.0.0

  • check/validate the directory structure of all LCG AA projects (checkout and install area)

  • create "LCGAA" pseudo-package for to download the binaries of a related set of releases in one go.

closed since last meeting:

  • n/a

status of releases:

  • a new version of root (4.04.02) was released and added to the configuration (LCG_35)
  • LCG_35: CLHEP is now using the "granular" libraries in the toolbox (without the HepMC, HepPDT and StdHep ones as they may introduce clashes in Atlas and LHCb)
  • a new series of releases (with some bug-fixes) based on LCG_35 (_1, _2) is being build: seal 1.6.3, pool 2.0.7, pi 1.3.3 and cool 1.0.3
