Minutes of the LIM meeting, Jun 16, 2005

Present: Florence Ranjard (LHCb), Eric Poinsignon (SPI), Shahzad Muzaffar (CMS), Andreas Pfeiffer (SPI)

Apologies: Emil Obreshkov (ATLAS), David Quarrie (ATLAS), Vasily Kabachenko (ATLAS)

Actions:

The doxygen tag files for ROOT and CLHEP have been generated and are available.

Alberto is going to plan to organize a meeting with IRST (the provider of RuleChecker). Interested experiments are asked to contact Alberto directly to give him feedback on their issues with RuleChecker. CMS reported that a large fraction of files (20%-40%) are not parseable due to use of (non-trivial) template classes.

Issues:

LHCb asked for bug-fix releases of root in a way that only a given (set of) fix(es) is applied to an existing release instead of going to the head and incorporating a lot of changes in addition to the required one. Andreas will raise this issue at the Architects Forum.

LHCb agrees to wait for the installation of Qt on windows for the release of 4.0 which is expected to come out end of June. CMS would like to have this version as well.

LHCb asked about the status of the installation of Dawn/David in the external area.

Also LHCb would like to have the individual tarballs for the "granular" libraries of CLHEP and of the individual subpackages of GENSER. They will then create their own customized pacman files for specific distribution purposes.

Next meeting: July 14, 11:00.

Action items:

new and outstanding:

  • check status of DAWN/DAVID installation in external

  • create tarballs for CLHEP and GENSER for the individual granular libraries/subpackages.

  • provide "flexible" download/install for GENSER 1.0.0

  • check/validate the directory structure of all LCG AA projects (checkout and install area)

  • create "LCGAA" pseudo-package for lcg-installation-manager.py to download the binaries of a related set of releases in one go.

status of releases:

  • a new version of POOL (2.1.0) is in preparation.
