Minutes of the LIM meeting, Sep 22, 2005

Present: Florence Ranjard (LHCb), Shahzad Muzaffar (CMS), Emil Obreshkov (ATLAS), Andreas Pfeiffer (SPI)

Apologies: David Quarrie (ATLAS), Vasily Kabachenko (ATLAS), Eric Poinsignon (SPI)

The savannah service and the web services hosted on have been sucessfully moved to a new machine running SLC3 (from CRH73). This change was completely transparent to the users (apart from some (short) downtime during which the savannah databases were moved).

A report was generated to evaluate the efforts needed to port pacman to run in a native windows environment (i.e, no cygwin). It was decided that SPI presently does not have the expertise and resources needed to do this porting.

The installation of Dawn/David is presently "blocked" as the package does not compile on gcc323. Yannick has contacted the author on this issue, but got no feedback so far.

New issues:

LHCb and CMS would like to have a more recent version of HippoDraw installed, CMS asked to have this installation done without binding to root.

LHCb asked for the planning on the seti tool (to install all LCG AA s/w of a given release from sources). It is planned to have a public release by the end of November, with some beta testing going on earlier (LHCb is interested in beta testing).

The question was brought up if rfio2 is installed on SLC3 by default.

CMS reported that there was no reply yet on some bugs they reported to the savannah RuleChecker entry.

Next meeting: Oct. 06, 11:00.

Action items:

new and outstanding:

  • check status of DAWN/DAVID installation in external

  • create tarballs for CLHEP and GENSER for the individual granular libraries/subpackages.

  • provide "flexible" download/install for GENSER 1.0.0

  • check/validate the directory structure of all LCG AA projects (checkout and install area)

  • create "LCGAA" pseudo-package for to download the binaries of a related set of releases in one go.

status of releases:

  • new versions of SEAL (1.7.3), POOL (2.1.3 (lcgdict based) and 2.2.0 (reflex based)) and PI (1.3.6) have been released, COOL (1.2.4 based on POOL 2.2.0) is being build.
