news & facts:

  • klystron in 3 MeV test stand should be ready by the end of this year, windows and couplers should be tested at full power (1 MW), one could use the Russian CCDTL and rework the CERN CCDTL so that one obtains a full 3-cavity module, this could be used for a full power test.
  • Gilles Favre is the new linkman between Linac4 and the CERN workshops.
  • DTL: Pierre Bourquin suggest to add 2 screws for drift tube adjustment, instead of having the rectangular opening as suggested by MV,
  • DTL: Nader: machining of cold model should start next week or the week after

decisions taken:

  • wave-guide coupler: introduce a bellow between the window and the tank, so that the tanks do not suddenly have 5 supports instead of 3, window part then supported independantly, waveguides below the tank should be suspended from the tank,
  • question: should we do the power splitting from the wave-guides in the klystron gallery or in the accelerating tunnel? -> decided to split in the klystron gallery and to have 25 shafts going from the gallery to the tunnel, up to 3d CCDTL tank we use high-power circulators for the high-power klystrons (2.5 MW) and do the splitting after the circulator, for the remaining CCDTL modules up to the end of the linac we do the splitting first and then we use old LEP circulators, that way we use 19 of the existing 20 circulators, and we need to buy 3 high-power circulators.
  • DTL: there should be 2 real hot models and not just a warm and a hot one since the price difference between warm and hot is not so big,
  • PIMS: for the copper order use the structure size given by 3% coupling (for the 5% coupling version, there could be a saving of 5% in copper)
