CCDTL (F. Gerigk)

  • there is money left in ISTC projects 2888 and 2889. Since the participants agree to terminate these projects, the money could be transferred to 3888 and 3889 (CCDTL). The idea is to define three general areas:
    • extended vacuum tests at BINP (e.g. buy a full set of joints, and do a complete test), here we should estimate the price of a full set of CCDTL joints with spares,
    • mounting of all modules on final support at BINP
    • support for installation and conditioning at CERN,
    • support for vacuum tests at CERN?,
  • support frames: an official price enquiry was sent to BINP from CERN finance. The approval of the technical specifications of the frame at CERN is terminated by today
  • -> material for steel profiles will be placed next week by Karl
  • He leak detection channels are included on all Helicoflex joint surfaces
  • postponed visit to BINP to ~end of September, to be able to prepare better the vacuum tests,

Coupler + Window (F. Gerigk)

  • final decision was taken to produce the Linac4 windows at CERN, first planning foresees high-power tests at Saclay in January/February, the first 6 series couplers mid 2012 and the final ones until March 2013,
  • drawings for all TaCo types are approved
  • action: need to finish the technical specifications, so that we can propose a contract with India
  • consider separate budget code for windows

Jacks (F. Gerigk)

  • approval of technical specifications ready to be launched today
  • need to send these to legal (M. Wilbers), which is ready to prepare the necessary documents
  • number of jacks for transfer line still evolving,
  • all drawings now controlled and approved (direct approval),

IPAC (F. Gerigk)

  • final drafts should be ready for end of July for PIMS paper and coupler paper

DTL (S. Ramberger)

  • The pre-machined girder T1S1 is completed and will be sent to CERN next week. The test piece for a final machined girder T1S2 is currently being in metrology and further improvements will be needed on the machine.
  • CADINOX is currently doing the metrology on tank T1S1 before the last 0.3mm will be removed. A further metrology measurement will follow after this stage.
  • DMP is currently producing several further drift tube parts. The delays on the manufacturing of drift tube cores however will lead to further delays for the assembly as it is on the critical path. The amount of drift tube cores currently being manufactured is too low to meet any schedules.

SM18 – Linac4 test stand (R. Wegner)

  • preparation of klystron HV tank on the way, a few parts need to be re-machined
  • modulator late ~ mid August
  • test stand could be ready end August / mid Spetember
  • 1st CCDTL and PIMS not expected to be tested before October

PIMS (R. Wegner)

  • Problem with new furnace, brazing of port for short module in old furnace (20 cm diameter) successfully finished, vacuum test successful; qualification of new furnace when it is ready
  • Ring of short module rough machined as foreseen: 1 by turning, 1 by milling
  • Preparations for brazing of waveguide-ring (copper bought from IPJ), horizontal brazing position not possible; option to braze ring vertically in collaborating institute
  • A new room is being prepared to cleaning according to CERN procedure (special rules for storage and usage of aggressive chemicals)
  • Rings will be cleaned and sent to Julich next week – before holidays start
  • CERN samples received for X-ray analysis of 2nd welding test – for calibration of IPJ’s X-ray analysis setup
  • Sample for cross check of metrology lab sent to CERN
  • Part identification codes will be milled into waveguide rings (height ~ 10 mm, depth ~ 0.5 mm)
