BI-Linac4 meeting of Wednesday 8th November 2006 Minutes by M. Pasini and K. Hanke

1. K. Hanke asked E.Bravin when he would be available to visit the BSHM in the AD hall. E.Bravin had no time so far, but will suggest a date.

2. K. Hanke reported that the Linac4 TDR report was at the stage of final editing. All specialists are encouraged to give a look at the chapter of their interest and send their comments before Friday 17th.

3. J.J.Gras reported that no work regarding the control of the slow wire scanners in the LEBT will happen before 2008. A clear statement of the BI group leader is needed in order to clarify what they are supposed to do and on what time scale. In general he reported that it will take approximately 3 months of work for each device and his work will be limited to run the instrument and acquiring the data, but without application program. J.J.Gras asked, whether the cost estimate should include the exploitation cost. This is not the case. The cost estimate presently under preparation will be the cost to completion.

4. K. Hanke reported that he talked to C.Rossi, who is holding the general planning for the 3 MeV part of Linac4. The planning for the LEBT diagnostics prepared by R.Scrivens is no longer up to date. A revised planning needs to be prepared and to be communicated to C.Rossi.

K.Hanke said that it has been suggested to add an additional transformer to the LEBT which will be located at the entry of the RFQ. Possibly the spare which is presently being manufactured for the chopper line could be used. U.Raich will look into this. action: U.Raich.

5. M. Pasini reported that he still misses half of the contributions for the revised cost and manpower table. After some discussion it was suggested to change the scheme of the table in order to include the design cost. M. Pasini will send the new table and the revised estimate should be completed by the next meeting. action: M.Pasini, all.

Correction of the previous minutes: Y. Cuvet is working on the general plan of the linac from the mechanical point of view. In fact all the diagnostic equipment will be installed in the inter-tank region and he is looking at a possible system mechanically possible.
