planning (F. Gerigk)

  • latest version
  • planning meeting will now take place every ~4 weeks with vacuum, survey, inter tanks, Julie

outcome of meeting yesterday (Jean-Frederic, Jean-Baptiste):

  • intermodule elements can only be installed in the tunnel -> vacuum test of intermodule elements only on installed machine,
  • the end tables have to be installed before the inter-tank elements are put onto them
  • survey has hired a contractor to help with the Linac4 measurements,
  • installation of inter tanks in closed area (so that survey can leave their equipment installed) -> JM
  • JM: prepare module 2 for measuring with alignment arms,
  • depending on how well/bad the PMQ alignment works, we can consider to install them in the tunnel, in that case one could put all conditioned CCDTL structures in the tunnel

SM18 (F. Gerigk)

  • it seems the repair of the Indian modulator will take longer than anticipated,
  • using a new L4 type modulator entails to have the operational software ready, which needs work
  • --> Jose will check with Sven if we need the new software of the L4 modulators for SM18,

CCDTL (F. Gerigk)

  • module 2 cannot be installed because space is needed for test bench and dump,
  • JM has already put both modules on blocks to be measured by survey,
  • transport with girder was tested by taking out module 3 of the bunker with both turbo pumps
  • area will be fenced by mid-february,
  • *--> * intermediate spacers for CCDTL needed for May, Frank will contact MME

RFQ (J. Marques)

  • water stabilisation is done without using stabilisation in the water station, but only in the regulation system of the RFQ,
  • so far tested with temperature changes of the hall, but not yet with any other load,
  • measurements on phase and frequency variations as a function of temperature will be done until next week,

DTL (S. Ramberger)

  • The girders of T3 have arrived at CERN. One will be verified at the metrology.
  • A modified stem for the repair of drift tube 329 has been sent to CERN.
  • T1S1 has been checked by survey after the release of frication forces on one drift tube. All drift tubes are within +/-30Ám vertically and apart from 4 outliers at +/-60Ám all drift tubes are also within +/-30Ám horizontally. This is an excellent result!
  • Bead-pull measurements of T1S1 comparing peaks in each gap correspond to simulations within <1% except for the last gap where the un-tuned RF-port is located close-by.
  • The one but last tank segment has been heat-treated and the last segment is currently under treatment.
  • Metrology results of T1S2 at CADINOX show some deviations. These deviations need to be compensated by custom machining.
  • The weld repair of T1S2 and T3S3 shall be checked by an independent weld inspector. CERN does not agree with CADINOX that the welds are fully penetrated and OK.

Jacks (S. Ramberger)

  • Housings for 1t jacks have been sent to CERN.

Waveguide couplers (S. Ramberger)

  • Drawings have been modified according to findings at potential suppliers and are under approval.

PIMS (R. Wegner)

  • A meeting with Polish delegation including director P. Krawczyk is being prepared for end February at CERN to discuss the status and planning of the PIMS production and to show the progress of Linac4.
  • A cost estimate for the 42 support spacers and shims has been received. The CERN workshop is contacted for their opinion to decide if these parts will be ordered from NCBJ of if they will be produced jointly with the spacers for DTL and CCDTL.
  • The following parts for the short module have been received end of December: end disc M_14, central disc M_6-7, pickup ring M_13-14 and pickup ring G_13-14, compare reception report End disc M_14 has successfully vacuum tested. End disc M_14 and central disc M_6-7 are measured in the metrology lab.
