LINAC4
  • Buncher cavity
    • Soltan Institute will deliver the cavity around the middle of November (first estimate was June)
    • Q measured=19200 without helicoflex (18800 corresponds to 80% of Superfish)

DTL

  • High Power test
    • klystron switched ON and tested
    • 21 different circuits for the water cooling (4 for the cavity body, 2 for the end-walls, 1 for the iris, 12 for the DTs, 2 for the PCs )
    • PLC installed to read temperatures (15/16 thermocouples: 4 for the DTs, 4 for the PCs, 3 for the tuners, 2 for the end-cones, 2 for the iris), water flow (controllers:1 general+ 7 on the cavity: 4 for the DTs, 1 for the PCs, 1 for the iris, 1 for the end-wall)
    • starting test next week
  • Meeting in ESS: they are evaluating different designs for a 352.2MHz DTL-among them also the CERN LINAC4 NC design

CCDTL

  • vacuum test on the CCDTL prototype is in progress to come to a decision on the pumping ports size
  • simulations with HFSS and MWS to check the coupling cell frequency (so far 1MHz difference with the two codes). Measurement done with a rod in the accelerating cell as well as the simulations
  • a technical meeting will take place at CERN on October 26th-27th-28th
  • a kick off meeting for the managements of all involved institutes will take place at CERN on October 29th

Power Splitter - Magic T

PIMS

  • is likely to be produced within a cooperation between Soltan Institute, Jülich (Germany) and CERN. At CERN will be done the EB welding to join the PIMS cells
