(F. Gerigk)
India (F. Gerigk)
- Monday morning at 9:30, video conference with India on further collaboration
CCDTL (F. Gerigk)
- received a more detailed cost estimate from BINP,
- received a cost estimate from the CERN workshop, and submitted both cost numbers together with a memo to finance to get approval for a direct contract with BINP.
- problem with material defect on one of the CCDTL half tanks is under study,
Windows (F. Gerigk)
- received an update cost for the revised window design from design, a paper version arrived today
- meeting with Eric, Maurizio, Gilles, and Alessandro today to confirm that we have the capacity to produce these windows at CERN in a reasonable time frame. The decision on whether to make a contract with Thales will depend on the results of the first prototype, which are expected for mid-June
- first ceramic is out of the oven, will only do a vacuum test on the completed window (within a month)
SPL (F. Gerigk)
- a dedicated ECFA panel has recommended to built a superbeam+beta beam facility to study neutrino physics rather than a full-blown neutrino factory. Apparently there are indications, which say that theta-13 will be in a range that can be studied by these 2 machines.
DTL (S. Ramberger)
- The drift tube manufacturing progresses with the speed foreseen in the planning but the delay that was accumulated could not be reduced. In turn the manufacturing in the workshops is further blocked.
- Two manufacturers for test girders have been visited which shown varying progress and additional delays.
PIMS (R. Wegner)
- welding test samples from Juelich cut for analysis of weld and for X-ray check
- preparation of SM18 test stand is on the way. Foreseen schedule: June. Maybe problems with parts in high voltage tank, also the arrival time of a load is critical.
- 28 discs and 7 end discs have been arrived at CERN
PIMS (P. Ugena)
- Simulations on the short module (one cell) have been finished.
- Simulations of the tuning ring heights for module 2 ccontinue.
