Jacks (F. Gerigk)

  • deadline for decision on contract with Spain is the end of February,
  • several questions were asked by ESS-Bilbao,
  • technical specs are rewritten and are under approval,
  • some materials could be changed from 316 LN to 304 L,
  • drawings have been corrected, approved and sent to Bilbao,
  • the NEFF adjustment mechanisms have arrived at CERN and are put into storage until we receive the housings,

Movable tuners (F. Gerigk)

  • clarified again which pieces are provided by CERN and which pieces have to be produced, Yves made an Excel table which clarifies which pieces belong to which couplers,
  • motor mounting plate is done by CECOM but will be assembled at CERN,
  • limit switch pieces were not included in the package of drawings, which was sent to INFN initially and will be produced by CERN (subcontracted by the workshop, contract went already out),
  • contract was signed on 6.12, prototypes are expected 6 months after signature,

CCDTL (F. Gerigk)

  • tank cooling channels of module 3 have been pressure tested and leaks were discovered on the connections to the radial channels in the end walls,
  • drawings and technical specs of the SERTO connectors were exchanged and in principle the connections should be leak tight. However, the manufacturer admitted that sometimes the used short conical connector leak when used with cylindrical holes.
  • potential solutions: i) use longer conical screws, ii) cylindrical connectors with VITON O-rings, iii) use Locktite sealing liquid.
  • welding fillers for the supports arrived and will soon be shipped to BINP together with Helicoflex joints and something to get the water connections leak tight.
  • Pressure drop in cooling channels was measured and the flow speed compared to the recommended values. Best compromise so far is to have circuits: i) 3 drift tubes + 3 end walls, ii) 3 drift tubes + 3 end walls, iii) all side wall channels. This gives between 4-5 bar pressure drop and flow speeds between 1-2 m/s in all channels.

DTL (F. Gerigk)

  • leak checks on post couplers and fixed tuners, which were made at CERN for tank1,
  • 2nd girder is being finished at CERN, finished beginning of March,
  • 2nd Cu plating of first tank still not done, new electrodes still not ready because of a missing titanium bar,

SPL cavities (F. Gerigk)

  • construction of a low-beta single cell cavity is prepared by MME

Cable positions (F. Gerigk)

  • the cable location of: RF pick-up, movable tuner connections, water flow signals, etc was discussed, waiting for summary

PIMS (R. Wegner)

  • Soltan Institute's director P. Krawczyk wrote an email last Sunday, informing us of a delay in the machining of test pieces. He suggested postponing our next meeting to beginning of March. Contacts to M. Marczenko have been difficult, no information of new results, metrology reports promised last week have still not been received.
  • K. Schirm suggested again the option of sending an inspector who could follow the production in Poland for some weeks and who could improve the access to information.
