Getting and RDO file and running on it

Ssh to CERN

First we need ssh to CERN. From Glasgow, use the ppelx machine at Glasgow, as it is the only one that can talk directly with the outside world, but can be done from your laptop from anywhere as well.

ssh -Y lxplus.cern.ch

There are many machines with "lxplus", and when you ssh there you arrive on only one of them. You can find out at which one by looking at your command prompt:

[abuzatu@lxplus0052]

Go to your folder. You can put it in /tmp, but /tmp is different on each machine and then you have to log back to the same machine. If you download your file in /tmp, then to be able to access it, next time you need to ssh to this exact machine, with

ssh -Y lxplus0052.cern.ch

Grid certificate

First we need to move the grid certificate files from the Glasgow machine to the lxplus machines (only needs to be done once). From Glasgow, use the ppelx machine at Glasgow, as it is the only one that can talk directly with the outside world, but can be done from your laptop from anywhere as well.

scp -r ppelx.physics.gla.ac.uk:~/.globus .

Setting up dq2-get

Then we setup ATLAS which allows you to set up ROOT or DQ2 independent of ATHENA

setupATLAS

Then we setup DQ2, and put "yes" and then "y" when it prompts you to.

localSetupDQ2Client

Get your grid proxy

voms-proxy-init -voms atlas

Introduce password (primul cu rusii)

Download one file or folder

Identify the dataset using AMI or take it from a Twiki page. In our case it is from the b-jet trigger page on LS1 work, from Carlo. We rerun the trigger, so we need the RDO file.

mc12_8TeV.105200.McAtNloJimmy_CT10_ttbar_LeptonFilter.digit.RDO.e1513_s1469_s1470_d700/

Notice the "/" at the end. It must be there.

I thought you could list the contents of this dataset, but I see it shows no files inside

[abuzatu@lxplus0137]~% dq2-ls mc12_8TeV.105200.McAtNloJimmy_CT10_ttbar_LeptonFilter.digit.RDO.e1513_s1469_s1470_d700/
mc12_8TeV.105200.McAtNloJimmy_CT10_ttbar_LeptonFilter.digit.RDO.e1513_s1469_s1470_d700/

But I see it only gives us

dq2-ls mc12_8TeV.105200.McAtNloJimmy_CT10_ttbar_LeptonFilter.digit.RDO.e1513_s1469_s1470_d700/

You can copy one file from the folder with the option "-n 1", and for this you can use a local folder

cd
mkdir triggerData
cd TriggerData
pwd
dq2-get -n 1 mc12_8TeV.105200.McAtNloJimmy_CT10_ttbar_LeptonFilter.digit.RDO.e1513_s1469_s1470_d700/

Or you can copy all the files, but for this you need larger space, such as the "/tmp" folder.

cd /tmp/abuzatu
mkdir triggerData
cd triggerData
pwd
dq2-get mc12_8TeV.105200.McAtNloJimmy_CT10_ttbar_LeptonFilter.digit.RDO.e1513_s1469_s1470_d700/

It should run by itself until the files are copied. Do not close the window.

Do not run the physical jobs in this window (xterm). Just close it and start fresh for work.
