Thoughts on the e ID within Ar/Xe combined TRT operation

General ideas:

  • Start with looking into low pile-up data
  • Take Z->ee electrons for signal purity
  • Simply mask (ignore) HT information from parts of the detector to simulate Ar mixture performance
Plans:
  • Sample: data11_7TeV.periodD1.physics_Egamma.PhysCont.ESD.t0pro08_v01/
  • Build tracking D3PDs and work with them instead of using athena based approach as used in digitization tuning studies
  • Look into electron ID efficiencies under several conditions:
    1. The entire TRT uses the Xe mix.
    2. The parts of the TRT that had serious leaks in this (2013) winter's running are using Ar mix and produce no HT hits.
    3. The entire TRT using Ar and produces no TR hits at all. This scenario relies on the LAr calorimeter to identify the electrons.
    4. The expected running condition at the start of run 2 (masking the HT hits from the TRT elements that could not be repaired).
