SLHC Tracker Upgrade Documentation page

Area intended for use in refining the documentation set for the Atlas Tracker Upgrade

1. The Current Documents

This area is where we keep the latest versions of the current document set.

1.1 Technical specification

Here is the version 2 Engineering Strawman Specification in pdf format. Below are the sections in word format, so that those who can edit this page can download, change and upload them (currently everyone, soon only members of this user list). Email Justin to be added to the list; you will need to be a Twiki user. For general TWIKI help see the tutorial.

1.1.1 Section 1 - Layout x

Version A transcribed directly from the strawman_v2 document.

1.1.2 Section 2 - Support structure

Version A is transcribed directly from the strawman_v2 document.

Version B is modified by Justin.

1.1.3 Section 4

1.1.4 Section 5

1.1.5 Section 6

2. Plan for eventual document set.

3. Info on how to get access to modify these pages.

Please let me know if you have any problems with this

0. If you already have an active AFS account and password, skip to step 3.

1. You need an AFS account and password. If you have neither, contact the Atlas sectretariat who will set you up. If you have an AFS account, but your password has expired, then contact the user support office and give them your id. They will give you a password for AFS which lasts only three days. Wait 30 minutes before you try to use it.

2. Log in to AFS. If you haven't done this before, you can use putty.exe (freeware - my copy came from RAL but there is a link here that should work http://www.tucows.com/preview/195286). The "hyperterminal" that comes with the version of windows I use, does not work - no idea why. Connect to lxplus.cern.ch and use the kpasswd command to change the password you were just given to something permanent.

3. Now you are ready to register for twiki. Go to https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/TWiki/TWikiTutorial and follow the instructions in section 3 on that page. It's pretty straightforward. For your login id, use your AFS username - a window will pop up and ask for your password (see step 2 above). You will need access to email at the time you do this because Twiki will send you an email with a code number in to validate the account.

You should now be able to create and edit pages in the sandbox area of the twiki at https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/Sandbox/WebHome
