BTagging Scale Factors

BTagging recommendations and updated CSV files can be found in BtagRecommendation76X page.

In the BTagShapeCalibration twiki you have access to the binning for calculating the btagging Scale Factors:

  • Heavy flavor scale pt and $ \eta $ bins:
    • Pt bins
      • pt Bin0: 20GeV < pt < 30GeV
      • pt Bin1: 30GeV < pt < 40GeV
      • pt Bin2: 40GeV < pt < 60GeV
      • pt Bin3: 60GeV < pt < 100GeV
      • pt Bin4: pt > 100GeV
    • Eta bins
      • $ \eta $ Bin0: $ |\eta| $ < 2.4

  • Light flavor scale pt and $ \eta $ bins:
    • Pt bins
      • pt Bin0: 20GeV < pt < 30GeV
      • pt Bin1: 30GeV < pt < 40GeV
      • pt Bin2: 40GeV < pt < 60GeV
      • pt Bin3: pt > 60GeV
    • Eta bins
      • $ \eta $ Bin0: $ |\eta| $ < 0.8
      • $ \eta $ Bin1: 0.8 < $ |\eta| $ < 1.6
      • $ \eta $ Bin2: 1.6 < $ |\eta| $ < 2.4

No correction is applied to charm jets.

In the BTagCalibration page there is information on how to read .csv files:

The scale factors are generally given as functions of pt or discriminator value and subdivided into these categories:

  • operatingPoint (loose = 0, medium = 1, tight = 2, disriminator reshaping = 3)
  • measurementType (e.g. "ttbar", or "comb" for combination)
  • sysType ("up", "central", "down", but arbitrary strings possible, like "up_generator" or "up_jec")
  • jetFlavor (B = 0, C = 1, UDSG = 2)
  • etaMin, etaMax
  • ptMin, ptMax
  • discrMin, discrMax (only for disriminator reshaping)
  • (formula is the scale factor itself)


Task 1: produce ntuples to check current status
