The CMS experiment is managing hundreds petabytes of data recorded by the detector and simulated physics events.
Data are transferred to distributed CMS sites for storage, processing and analysis.
PhEDEx (Physics Experiment Data Export) maintains the knowledge of data replicas locations and manages data transfers between the sites.
Main PhEDEx components are:
Interactive Web Page for managing and monitoring the transfers
Agents performing central and local site-specific tasks
Central Transfer Management Database (TMDB) maintaining a system state
Web data service providing APIs for integration with other tools
Command-line tools for the operations and administrative functions
