Crab3 tutorial held, Crab3 office hours will be tried. Sort of joint Phys.Supp + WM activity
global submission infrastructure: lots of work and progress going on, very well documented in ComputingXEBReports
any news about Jadir ? Who's tracking cat-A hiring etc. now that Peter K. is leaving ?
last Crab2 release (modulo patches) out, mostly for the "Node Name thing" i.e. use only and always PhEDEx Node Names to indicate data locations. Required some changes to Crab2 publications. At the same time (and as a technical consequence):
glite submission removed
local condor at FNAL and LSF at CERN not broken (but no manpower for fully extensive testing whatever it may mean)
no testing done with all the various "community supported local submitters": PBS, PBSv2,SGI,SLURM,ARC
Highlights the need to agree on global naming for everything, as discussed with Oli two weeks ago and still waiting to know when and how we can nail things down. Confusion here is at the root of the plethora or use cases in Crab2, differences in Crab2/Crab3, confusion for users and developers alike and overall time wasting and unhappiness. A twiki was started, waiting from above to circulate it.
as Crab2 winds down, Stefano @ CERN for the 2nd week in this month to full immerse in Crab3
Physics Support seems to become more and more coordination work, difficult to do w/o clear vision on what we want to support when.
e.g. still waiting to know where to direct any question about CAF or what to tell users about ignore_locality in Crab3
many of those uncertainties reflect in more work on development, support, documentation
We need help from Generator group for updating the Workbook section of generator.
Big challenge ahead is two CMS Data Analysis Schools in January at FNAL and Bari which will be based on miniAOD, so need almost full revision of past structure and instructions.
We obviously suffer the lack of a persons in charge of Documentation, which is among list of top mssing 5 persons in Computing since many months
