Knowledge:

sMDT resolution

Small MDT has worse spatial resolution, because the closer the hit to the wire, the worse the resolution. Resolution vs radius is a parabola-like curve, where 7.5 mm is minimum Resolution of the tube is the average over the radius. sMDT has more small end resolution in the averaging.

However, since tube is smaller, we can fit more tubes in the same space, and theoretically overcome the tradeoff, but take the advantage of high rate

Terminologies

Tracking Residual

Tracking residuals are the differences between the drift radii from the drift time and the radius from the track fit

Tracking Resolution

The resolution is determined from the tracking residuals width with the fit errors subtracted.
