AtlasLcgSiteInformation

General Information

Information concerning the ATLAS Computing Operations will be found at http://cern.ch/atlas-computing/operations/operations.php

Requirements for a LCG site to join the ATLAS productions:

• LCG is installed and working.
• Atlas software is installed and validated.
• Resources requirements are fulfilled.
• You can see which sites are available for the productions at http://cern.ch/grid-deployment/cgi-bin/ATLAS-qstat

LCG

The current recommended release is 2_7_0.

• LCG 2_6_0 has some problems.
• We will have to upgrade to LCG 2.7.0 while minimizing the interference to our on-going productions. ( 7 Feb 2006, Zhongliang Ren)

VO Box

• ATLAS requires a dedicated machine (so-called VO box) at each site to run data management services and other services.

Publishing Information

  • In principle, it should be per host. (11 Jan 2006, Di Qing)

Known Problems

• 2_6_0
  • The DPM has a problem inDynamic Information Publishing (fixed in 2_7_0). ( 07 Feb 2006, Ueda I)
  • There is a serious bug in GFAL, causing many failures in the ATLAS software installation. (07 Feb 2006 Alessandro De Salvo)

Atlas Software

This is done by the deployment team (see AtlasSoftOnLCG2). The current deployment status can also be seen by following the link there. In case the necessary atlas software release is not installed in a site, a request should be made following the instructions there.

• In case there is a problem in installation/validation, the deployment team will contact the site manager to solve the problem.
• The site managers can also validate the installation following the instructions in UseTheKitValidationSuiteToValidateYourInstallation.

The releases currently used in productions are;

• 11.0.4 for simulation and digitization
• 11.0.41 for reconstruction

Resources Requirements

CPU

• Current requirements used in job submissions can be found in http://cern.ch/grid-deployment/eis/experiments/atlas/ProductionHowTo

Memory

• Current requirements used in job submissions can be found in http://cern.ch/grid-deployment/eis/experiments/atlas/ProductionHowTo
• GlueHostMainMemoryRAMSize must be set correctly.

Storage

• Installation of #AtlasSoftware requires at least 10 GB of shared filesystem among WNs.
