Starting Out

Go to this twiki page and check out and install the package. This will automatically install the latest verions of FastJet and Alpgen as well.

Jimmy requires CernLib libraries to run. If CernLib isn't installed on your machine, you can download the relevant libraries from http://cernlib.web.cern.ch/cernlib/version.html for your OS and gcc version. You can then change the make file in /herlib/ to link against the binaries.

Validation

Comparison plots between this package's generation and MC08 production can be found at /afs/cern.ch/user/r/rcalkins/public/alpgen/ grouped by W+ n jets. For W+3 jets, the filename is W3jets.tar. Alternatively, selected plots are presented in the attached slides.

Comparison Code

This is very personalized but can provide you with a starting point. The script, MyReader.C, reads a LBL ntuple and produces lots of output plots. In MyReader.h, change the variable "npartons" and the filename to reflect your setup and the jet multiplicity you wish to study.

Samples

There are two W+2 jets samples available on lxplus. These were produced at 14 TeV and with all parameters the same as MC08 production except qfac has been set to 0.5 for :

/afs/cern.ch/user/r/rcalkins/public/alpgen/histo-atlas05_2J_hw_event_ps0_postFSR_cjetClu04.root

and to 2.0 for :

/afs/cern.ch/user/r/rcalkins/public/alpgen/histo-atlas20_2J_hw_event_ps0_postFSR_cjetClu04.root
