During the school we would like to offer about 10 different exercises to the students. Ideally the exercises should:
- be complementary
- be related to the lectures
- not bee too specialized
- not require exotic, dangerous, very expensive or fragile equipment
All exercises will have to be assembled and tested. This will happen in a dedicated room at CERN (104 R-B03). Once the exercises are set up the tutors will be trained on them by the responsible of the respective exercise and eventually the material will be shipped to the School.
=======Start of template
Name of the exercise
Just a short title. E.g. "NIM based trigger for a scintillator"
Responsible for the exercise
Your name or the name of the person that will implement the exercise
Description of the exercise
A somewhat longer text to describe the exercise
What will the students learn
A list of the skills. E.g.:
- trigger logic
- VMEbus programming
- System integration and configuration
- Data visualization
Duration
The students should be able to complete an exercise in 2 hours. Indicate if the exercise takes much more or less time than this default duration.
List of material
List, as detailed as possible, the H/W items as well as the S/W that is required to perform the exercise.
Relevant information
Add URLs to:
- Related lectures (typically the exercises will take place after the related lectures)
- The manuals of the devices (modules, scopes, etc) and S/W packages used in the exercise
In addition you have to provide:
- An installation guide. This document is for the supervisor of the exercise. It has to describe in detail how the material has to be set up before the exercise can start (Cabling, S/W installation, etc.)
- An instruction sheet. This document is for the students and tells them whay they have to do
Solution
You have to provide a possible solution for the exercise witch the studens can consult after the exercise or if they get stuck. The solution should not be in this TWiki (we don't want the students to see it)
