Fiber Tracker Module

Here we present preliminary results of simulation and tests of a fiber tracker module currently under construction in Frascati - INFN Labs.

Main parameters:

  • Fiber diameter 1 mm - No. of PE (at 0 m) 4.5 - Att. Length 3.2 m - X0 42 cm - Kuraray SCSF-81 (KLOE data)
  • Step (x) 1.35 mm - Step (y) 0.74 mm
  • Readout of 6 vertical fibers
  • Angular acceptance +/- 300 mrad
  • PE threshold : ge.1 PE

Simulation outputs:

  • Resolution in x : sd (digital r/o) = 0.41 mm - sd (analog r/o) = 0.21 mm
  • T length : Average track length in fibers = 3.5 mm ( X0 = 0.83 %)
  • Ph. Electr. : Mean no. of PE (one ch.) 8.6 - Mean no. of PE (total) 12.4 (no mirror)

With 1 mm fiber X step: sd (analog r/o) = 0.14 mm; Track length = 4.8 mm; PE (per ch) = 9.1

Studies of the H8500 Hamamatsu PM

  • Preliminary results on the prototype Attenuation lengths
    • Exp. results (no mirror) : Lambda_att = 3.4 m ; No. PE/mm at 0 m = 6.5
    • Exp. results (mirror) : Lambda_att = 4.8 m ; No. PE/mm at 0 m = 7.2 ; Refl. Coeff. (at 2.3m) 33%
