Pixel Operation Manual for Shifters

Detector Control System (DCS)

The shifter should use the Pixel FSM to monitor and control the Pixel hardware during the shift. There are three ways to access the FSM:

  • directly from the terminal server, click on FSM
  • by running the DeviceEditorNavigator panel on one of our LCS or the SCS
  • via remote desktop to one of the LCS or the SCS (works only for members of Pixel DCS, not for Pixel Observers)

When you start the Pixel FSM, you should obtain the Pixel top panel which looks like:

You can navigate in the tree by selecting a child of the tree: PIX_BLAYER, PIX_BARREL, PIX_DISKS or PIX_Infrastructure. If you left click on "PIX_BARREL" for instance you get the summary of Layer 1 and Layer 2. Further left click brings you down in the selected branch. The column in the middle informs you on the state of the object, the field on the right display its status. Left click on the state of an object, shows you which commands are available.
