Dijet Angular Analysis - Full Run2


The dijet signature can be exploited to search for deviations from the SM expectation in angular distributions, characteristic of wider resonances where the nominal dijet search would lose sensitivity. The analysis makes use of the Lorentz-invariant Rutherford variable $\chi=e^{2|y*|}\sim(1+cos\theta*)/(1-cos\theta *)$, constructed so that, in the limit of massless parton scattering and when only the t-channel scattering contributes to the partonic cross-section, the angular distribution $dN/d\chi$ is approximately independent of $\chi$.

Sample Derivation

The analysis uses EXOT2 derivations:

  • Online: combination of jet triggers. Offline: none
  • Derivation contains both AntiKt4EMTopo and AntiKt4EMPFlow jets
  • Remember: for Full Run2 analyses mc16 sub-campaigns combination is needed

Signal samples

Signal R21 reprocessing request has been submitted here and here (for dijet/dibjet/TLA analyses). Additional DM Z' points have been generated for the last dijet angular analysis interpretation (for '15+'16 DM Summary paper). The JIRA ticket for these points is here. These points are not used in the Full Run2 dijet resonance search (and R21 reprocessing has not been requested yet).

Main analysis background is... QCD multi jets obviously!
