Flavour Tagging for additional , non default Jet containers

As part of the B-tagging performance CSC note (BT0) it was useful to study the jet tagging performance in different jet algorithms and with varying parameters. However the standard jet reconstruction packages are only setup for a limited number of jet containers so it was necessary to modify a small number of python scripts to construct and tag the additional containers. Here we describe the modifications required based on release 12.0.6.

To create all the various jet containers the reconstruction was run on the ESDs using the Generic jet algorithm, this required changes to two python scripts in the JetRec package:

  • JetRec_jobOptions.py to define the jet parameters
  • GenericJets_jobOptions.py specifically to assign a jet energy calibration to jet containers where none is available, e.g. for Cone2TowerJets assign the Cone4TowerJets calibration
and two scripts in JetMissingEtAlgs package to build the reconstructed and truth containers:

In order to tag the additional jet containers it was necessary to run athena on AODs twice using two versions of the BTagging/BTagging_jobOptions.py script

  • version1 No calibrations are available for the new containers
  • version2 Calibrations are available.
