Using svn

  • To get package
     svn co svn+ssh://<username>@svn.cern.ch/reps/atlas-mvanadia/TBReco/trunk ./TBReco
  • Executing
     svn info
in an svn controlled directory gives information on the package
  • Using command
    svn status
    updated files will be shown
  • Using command
    svn update
files can be updated to the latest version. Be careful because local changes may be overwritten
  • If you want to commit local changes use the command
svn ci -m "short message describing update"
. WARNING: DO IT ONLY IF CHANGES ARE CORRECTLY COMPILING, RUNNING, AND ALERT OTHER USERS OF THE PACKAGE OF THE PURPOSE OF THE CHANGES BEFORE DOING THE UPLOAD, SO IN CASE THEY CAN PREVENT THE UPLOAD.
  • Changes must be described in ChangeLog file in the package with some details
  • If you want to add a local file to the repository use
    svn add FILENAME
and then rember to commit the change with
svn ci -m "short message describing update"
  • From time to time it is good to freeze a working version of the code before big changes. DO THAT ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. You must verify with
   svn ls svn+ssh://<username>@svn.cern.ch/reps/atlas-mvanadia/TBReco/tags
what is the latest tagged version. Then you must call in your local folder, which you want to tag,

svn cp . svn+ssh://<username>@svn.cern.ch/reps/atlas-mvanadia/TBReco/tags/TBReco-XX-XX-XX -m "tagging TBReco-XX-XX-XX"

where Xs are digits (starting from 00-00-01 on and MUST BE GRATER THAN LATEST PREVIOUS VERSION).
