Organization

The ATLAS central DCS project is a collaboration of CERN, NIKHEF, and the Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute PNPI
The tasks of central DCS comprise the design and implementation of the ATLAS DCS operations layer, the supervision of the ATLAS common infrastructure such as counting room rack control or information services on external systems. We furthermore provide common hardware and software tools for use in the ATLAS subdetector DCS systems facilitating the common tools and packages provided for all LHC experiments by the Joint Controls Project ( JCOP).

The Atlas DCS project bases mainly on Windows Operating System. NICEFC is the tool to manage Windows computers in experimental networks. This tool allows to install Windows , applications an help to execute defferent administrative tasks. Users and developers can have an access to computes on atlas network via Window Terminal Server.
