1. UPD4/3 representation:

UPDTools is an offline code to represent the number of channels being masked during calibration or bulk processing. UPDTools has access the offline DB to look for bad channels in the UPD4 list (recall that the UPD4 folder is the one that is updated during the calibration loop, before the bulk of the data is processed) or UPD3 list (updated after the bulk of the data is processed).

  • UPD4 example: By running UPDTools for UPD4 list, we will get couple of histograms for sporadicBurstNoise and highNoisehigHG.

  • UPD3 example: By running UPDTools with UPD3 tag, again we will get couple of histograms for sporadicBurstNoise and highNoisehigHG. These histograms shows the number of noisy channels missed in UPD4 and they are masked after the calibration loop. UPD3 channels can be divided into two groups. First the channels just existed in UPD3 and not UPD4 and the second group is the channels their status changed between UPD4 and UPD3. As an example for the second group, we can imagine a channel which is flagged as SBN in UPD4 but in UPD3 it's getting flagged as HNHG.

2. LTTNK update (ongoing):

  • LTTNK ( LArTriggerTowerNoiseKiller) is an online application, existed in P1 and it's disabling hot towers in layer 0 and 1. This ongoing update shows the most frequently masked channels by UPD4/3 and most frequently disabled channels by LTTNK. Then we can find the channels both disabled by LTTNK and masked by UPD. More information for LTTNK can be found here: Below is an example of channels both flagged by UPD and LTTNK:

3.PMC (permanently masked channels) update (ongoing)

  • PMC's are the channels permanently masked in 2016 and now they are re-enabled. This update shows the status of PMC's in terms of offline (UPD) and online (LTTNK) during 2017. By running this option, we can find the PMC's flagged offline and online and which PMC's are most frequently masked by UPD and disabled by LTTNK.
