WZ Sync

Preselection

These are the selections used.

Trigger

  • DoubleMu
    • HLT_Mu17_TrkIsoVVL_Mu8_TrkIsoVVL_v*
    • HLT_Mu17_TrkIsoVVL_TkMu8_TrkIsoVVL_v*
  • DoubleElectron
    • HLT_Ele23_Ele12_CaloId_TrackId_Iso_v*
  • MuE
    • HLT_Mu8_TrkIsoVVL_Ele23_Gsf_CaloId_TrackId_Iso_MediumWP_v*
    • HLT_Mu23_TrkIsoVVL_Ele12_Gsf_CaloId_TrackId_Iso_MediumWP_v*

Objects

Each object has loose and tight selections.

Electrons

Electrons are miniAOD electrons = cms.InputTag("slimmedElectrons")

Loose

  • EGamma POG Loose CBID (using VID framework)
    • egmGsfElectronIDs:cutBasedElectronID-PHYS14-PU20bx25-V1-miniAOD-standalone-loose
  • Relative Isolation < 0.2
  • pT > 10 GeV
  • eta < 2.5
Tight
  • EGamma POG Medium CBID (using VID framework)
    • egmGsfElectronIDs:cutBasedElectronID-PHYS14-PU20bx25-V1-miniAOD-standalone-medium
  • Relative Isolation < 0.15
  • pT > 10 GeV
  • eta < 2.5
Relative isolation with rho corrections definition
  • (e.chargedHadronIso()+max(0.0,e.neutralHadronIso()+e.photonIso()-rho*EffArea))/e.pt()
  • rhoSrc = cms.InputTag("fixedGridRhoFastjetAll")
  • Effective Areas (from HZZ) defined by (using pat::electron.eta()):
    • eta>=2.2: ea=0.2680
    • eta>=2.0 and eta<2.2: ea=0.1565
    • eta>=1.3 and eta<2.0: ea=0.1077
    • eta>=0.8 and eta<1.3: ea=0.1734
    • eta<0.8: ea=0.1830

Muons

Muons are miniAOD muons = cms.InputTag("slimmedMuons")

Loose

  • pat::muon.isLooseMuon()
  • Relative isolation < 0.2
  • pT > 10
  • eta < 2.4
Tight
  • pat::muon.isTightMuon(reco::Vertex pv)
    • vertex: cms.InputTag("selectedPrimaryVertex")
  • Relative isolation < 0.12
  • pT > 10
  • eta < 2.4
Relative Isolation with delta beta corrections definition

MET

MET is miniAOD type 1 corrected pfMet = cms.InputTag("slimmedMETs").

Jets

Jets are miniAOD ak4 jets = cms.InputTag("slimmedJets")

Cleaning

Veto on 4th lepton

Veto definitions

  • electron
    • Loose electron no isolation with dr>0.4 from selected leptons
  • muon
    • Loose muon no isolation with dr>0.4 from selected leptons

Final state selections

Select 3 leptons in final states of (ee)e, (ee)m, (mm)e, (mm)m where the first two leptons correspond to the Z (require OSSF) and they are ordered in pT. The third lepton corresponds to the W. Degeneracy in the eee and mmm final states is solved by selecting the OSSF pair closest to the nominal Z mass (91.1876 GeV).

Selections

These selections are applied after the preselection.

Z Selection

  • Invariant mass within 20 GeV of nominal Z mass (91.1876 GeV)
  • Leading lepton pT > 20 GeV

W Selection

  • Lepton pT > 20 GeV
  • MET > 30 GeV
  • deltaR between W lepton and each Z lepton > 0.1

3l Invariant Mass

  • Invariant mass of 3 lepton final state > 100 GeV

Sync numbers

Here is where each group should put their sync numbers. These numbers are the yield (in passing events, not luminosity scaled) of the Phys14 WZ sample: /WZJetsTo3LNu_Tune4C_13TeV-madgraph-tauola/Phys14DR-PU20bx25_PHYS14_25_V1-v1/MINIAODSIM.

UW

All loose with isolation (preselection)
