Time: 5 March 2012 (from 16:00 to 17:00) Attendees: Pedro, Juan Manuel, Lionel, Massimo, Gavin, Ignacio Introduction: - Ignacio will take over the messaging service in PES. - Long term objective is to provide an on-demand messaging service. - New requests for using the messaging infrastructure should be evaluated according to the AI policy for accepting new components (being defined). Node types: - We should provide production brokers for application such as OpenStack and MCollective as soon as possible. - We should provide test brokers for other use cases that are testing messaging in the context of AI (Lemon, etc). Operations Transition: - Agreement on SNOW has been established last week. - PES is now responsible for the complete operation of messaging nodes (from OS to Messaging services). - GT to train PES on the deployment/operation of brokers. Lionel and Ignacio to be in direct contact. - PES to learn and gradually gain experience on brokers operation, in particular the broker configuration. Priorities: - 1. Enable OpenStack on RabbitMQ and MCollective on Apollo in production brokers. - 2. Provide test brokers for other applications, such as Lemon. - 3. Moving brokers from quattor based nodes to puppet based nodes. Architecture: - Security is important. Should be taken in consideration from the beginning. - In this initial phase, each application should use it's own broker instance. Deadlines: - OpenStack and MCollective running on new production brokers by the end of March. Monitoring: - We should start with a simple existing solution to monitor the brokers. JIRA Tickets: - Current user story (AI-234) will be extended with new tasks for enabling OpenStack and MCollective - New user story to be created for the transition from quattor to puppet.
