Subject: Savannah project to be migrated in Jira or archived From: Ilias Goulas Date: 07/25/2014 11:36 AM To: Maria Dimou CC: Maarten Litmaath , Benedikt Hegner Dear Maria, Maarten, There are quite a lot of Savannah projects the may be of interest for IT to migrate them in Jira. I would appreciate a lot if you could indicate me the way to proceed for each of the projects or/and eventually direct me to a savannah responsible for each group of projects. We have developed a tool that can be used to migrate a Savannah project to jira. We had some problems in the beginning by using the tool, but now we have reached to a satisfactory level of quality for most of the projects that have been migrated. We can proceed by migrating the project in two ways: 1) directly to the production instance of Jira because we are confident that we can get good results. 2) perform a test migration first, let the users check the results and then proceed with the final migration. The option 2 is time consuming and unfortunately we need to speed-up the procedure because there is a special need to update the current version of the production instance of Jira. This will mean that we will not be able to use our tool to migrate the projects since it is not compatible with the new version of Jira. We had the same problem in the beginning of the year and it took us quite a lot of time and efforts to fix the problems. Once a Savannah project is migrated to Jira, the savannah projects becomes read-only and the project together with all of its issues is redirected to the equivalent project in Jira. In case a project is not in production we can consider archiving the project because is not of interest anymore or alternatively create static web pages protected by cern password in case it is important to view historical data. We have also developed a script that can do this job. The most important and urgent issue, for the moment, is to concentrate on the projects that are in production and need to be migrated. Those that need to be archived or converted to static web-pages can be done also later but in any case before we stop the Savannah service. Please find enclosed the excel file with the list of Savannah projects that might be of interest to IT. The file contains two sheets: a) A simple list of project names, type and status b) A detailed list indicating among others the number of issues, the number of days since the last posting and a list of emails of the project administrators. The information was last updated in the beginning of the year and it might not be accurate. I look forward to have your feedback as soon as possible.
