Minutes of Meeting on 30 September 2015, 16:00 Participants: Laura Fabbietti, Hannes Zmeskal, Fulvio Tessarotto, Bogdan Zwieglinski, Damien Neyret, Bernhard Ketzer ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0. General - Information concerning the proposal is put to a Wiki: https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/Sandbox/JamHph - The slides shown today are available at https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/pub/Sandbox/JamMeeting2/jam-hph_20150930.pdf - A first version of the new proposal, for which I copied the paragraphs of the old one, and adapted it slightly, e.g. to the new time lines, can be found at https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/pub/Sandbox/JamProposal/JAM-HPH_proposal_v3-1.doc 1. Evaluation of first proposal to EC - the items which were criticized mainly concern issues related to Networking Activities and issues related to the common proposal, like conflict resolution, gender issues, dissemination of results, etc., and thus do not directly concern our JRA - some items which we had in our JRA proposal are explicitly praised, e.g. medical applications - since "data management" was explicitly criticized, we could mention to set up a database with test/QA results (as it will be done for the ALICE production) - we should go through our proposal with the items criticized or highlighted to see if we can improve in this respect, and stress more the potential applications of our research (paintings, tomography, etc.). 2. Second call by EC - Since hadron physics is explicitly targeted in the Call, the proposal is considered almost certain to be funded - There was a question whether the Steering Committee expects us to write a completely new proposal, or whether a decision as to whether MPGDs will be included has already been made. BK will contact Carlo to find out more details - In any case, it was stressed that considering the short time until submission to the steering committee (October 30, 5pm), there is no way to come up with a completely new proposal. 3. Participation: - all groups expressed their interest to participate in the new proposal, with at least the same responsibilities as before, except -- Warsaw (too little time to prepare) -- Frankfurt (no response at all) -- GSI (no response to this particular question) -- Glasgow (no response to this particular question) - external partners should be contacted by the contact persons to confirm their participation - additional interest in subtask "TPCs at extreme conditions" was expressed by TUM (liquid noble gas TPC) and CEA (high-pressure Xe TPC) 4. New proposal - it was decided that the strategy should be to keep the present structure, and to improve / streamline / update it in some aspects. All participants are asked to go through the file with this in mind and send corrections or suggestions to BK within two weeks from today. - it was also decided to increase the financial request by roughly a factor 4/3, owing to the longer time scale of the project. BK will come up with a new table - the next meeting is foreseen to take place on October 16, 5:30 pm, via skype. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
